Same Day Teeth Implants

Fast, fixed and cost-effective

Patient presented with recently extracted lower teeth opposing upper natural teeth. Patient is aged 85 and is unable to accustom to lower removable denture. Patient is medically fit, and stabilised.

Our patient is most unhappy as her basic needs of chewing, talking, food-tasting and smiling are compromising her everyday life!

Primary complaint

85 year old patient recently received immediate full lower denture. Patient cannot cope with sudden change to mobile lower denture.

Solution preferred by the patient is the fixed option where a minimum of four implants in the lower jaw are permanently holding the lower teeth. Only the dentist can remove them. A normal injection in a dental chair is all that is required. Approximately 20% of patients prefer sedation which is provided by our specialist doctor. Please refer to menu on sleep dentistry.

Once a correct diagnosis and treatment plan is formulated, the four implants and lower provisional bridgework are placed for immediate function, comfort and aesthetics. Immediate function for mandible: fast, fixed and cost-effective, all during one visit .

Immediate Post Op

This procedure takes about two hours from implant placement to connection of the provisional hybrid bridgework.
Patient will be on soft diet for the next 6 weeks when final implant supported hybrid bridge will be constructed (All-on-4).
The four implants are holding the full lower bridge. The bridge is bolted down to the four implants, functioning as patient’s own teeth!

One day post-op: With no pain, and only slight discomfort, patient does not believe this procedure can be completed in such a short visit.
This procedure requires normal local anaesthetic similar to requirement for tooth removal or filling. Our patient was not sedated although this is available on request. Dr Nalbandian performs about 90% of all implant surgical placement procedures without the need for IV sedation.

Two Weeks Post Op

Two months later we proceed with final bridge construction using special titanium bars to hold the bridge, which is bolted to osseointegrated implants that have healed with the lower jaw.

Laboratory stages see the lower bridge and four screws

The lower bridge is bolted to the implants and permanently fixed to the lower jaw. During these procedures of bridge impressions and issue, there is no pain or discomfort. The bite is adjusted using blue carbon paper.

The screw holes are filled with gum-coloured fillings. The under the bridge space is provided for easy cleaning.
