Complete dentures replace all missing teeth in the upper and/or lower jaws. Without natural teeth, the bones in the jaws continue to resorb over a lifetime. This changes a person's appearance as well as the fitting of their prosthesis. Long-time wearers experience loosening of their dentures as the jaw loses its bone mass. To slow down or prevent this bone loss, we can try to save some tooth roots or place a few implants to fabricate an "overdenture." This looks like a complete denture however it has support underneath which preserves bone mass and greatly increases denture stability.
